Who Are You?

Jesus You were asked, "Who are You?" in today's gospel. You are so much more than we can ever imagine. Free us from the chains of only seeing You as an image on a holy card or stained glass window. Open our minds to ponder the unimaginable truth and form of the Holy Trinity. We are like children who can only relate to the images that You have so lovingly provided to us. Help us to have the faith of a child and the hope for unmeasureable joy and awe when we do have the reality of who You are revealed to us after leaving this world. Amen.

Casting Stones

Lord, today's Gospel reminds us of your infinite mercy. You know dear Lord that we are both stone throwers and the stoned. Help us to understand the difference between telling the truth and throwing a stone when our Catholic beliefs are challenged. We need to accept that only You reserve the right to cast the first stone if that is your will. Amen

Wheat Seed

Thank you Lord for providing us with Your truth in a way that can be heard by everyone regardless of their level of "scientific" knowledge. The truth that is revealed in today's gospel can be understood equally well whether one sees a wheat seed only in terms of its obvious appearance or one sees a wheat seed in a more scientific and complex way. Your truth can be heard and understood by all eager to hear and believe. Make us eager and willing Lord. Amen

The Catechism's Gravity

To those who wish to change the tenets of the Catholic Church as expressed in the Catechism I say this. It is unreasonable to expect the law of gravity to be altered so that man can fly easier and higher in a plane or rocket. It is equally unreasonable to expect that the truth set out in the Catechism should be changed to justify irresponsible and immoral choices masked as "freedom of choice". Lord, draw us closer to You by accepting the gravity of Your truth. Amen.

Fifth Station

Jesus, help us to truly see You in the faces of all of those that we meet along the roads that we travel. We are living in a time when so many carry crosses of every imaginable hardship. Help us to place our hands on their crosses and help when we can and as we can. Create in us the desire to be like Simon the Cyrene. Amen.

The Day After

Blessed Mother, the day after saying yes to the Angel must have been the start of something wonderful but at the same time difficult for you. While knowing that you carried the Savior of the world in you, the scorn and whispering of scandal by others would soon be waiting to greet you. Intercede for us, the Body of Christ in the Catholic Church, to be like you. Ask Jesus to give us the courage to carry the joy and truth of our faith into the world. Help us to find our Catholic voices in a world whose ears are growing ever more deaf. Amen

The Annunciation. Say "Yes"

Mary Protector of America, on the feast of The Annunciation, please intercede and nudge our Catholic politicians to look intensely into the message of life that is being spoken by Jesus through Pope Benedict. Help them to transcend the political motivations for their decisions and positions. Let them answer your plea to protect life with a resounding "yes" as you said "yes" to the Angel's invitation to you to carry our savior Jesus Christ into this world. Amen
