Drawn To The Father
Jesus, You are the force that keeps us close to the Father in heaven. He created the vastness of the universe. A vastness that is beyond our ability to comprehend. Yet, we are so special. The Father has chosen to send You to our invisible island to make us His, if only we believe in You. Lord, keep us safe and keep us close to You otherwise we we will drift endlessly in a universe headed toward destruction. Amen.

Never Hunger Or Thirst
Jesus the whole world is in a state of intense hunger and thirst for earthly and spiritual food and drink. So many people are truly starving for lack of basic food and water. So many people are in need of You and are starving spiritually, and yet do not even recognize that they lack nourishment and health. Jesus, let us look upon You, believe in You and be saved by You as You promised. Fill us all with just enough of God's endless food and drink while on earth to keep us close to You. Help us provide for our earthly food and drink and also to be of assistance to those suffering both earthly and spiritual starvation. Amen.

The Bread of Life
Jesus, allow us to truly appreciate and value the Eucharist as the bread that was sent to earth by the Father. Help us find refuge in Your presence as we sit before the tabernacle. We are living in a time that is changing so rapidly away from You. Be there for us as we try to live our lives in a way that will turn others in Your direction. Jesus, You are our hope. Amen.

Looking For Jesus
Dear Lord, we are looking for You constantly. We often search for You because of desperation, hunger, fear and confusion. Sometimes You make Your presence felt and other times it seems like we search in vain. Help us to be able to look beyond our states of earthly needs and seek You because of the eternal needs that You can satisfy. Our desperation, hunger, confusion and fear can be placed into Your caring hands. You will help us to deal with them if we trust in You. Jesus, help us trust in You. Amen.

It Is Me
Jesus, You come to us everyday and ask us why we are afraid. Through others You ask us for food to eat. You challenge us to see the woundedness of those around us and to recognize them as You. Everyday you remind us in the scriptures what the Father's plan is. Jesus, please help us to not be troubled or anxious. Strengthen our faith in You. Invite us to touch Your hand that is always there waiting for us. We long to hear you say, "Peace be with you." Amen.

He Is Still Here
Lord You did so many wondrous things while on earth. When You ascended into heaven, You left Yourself and Your power on earth through the apostles and Your church. Jesus, please help us to cling to You by following the Commandments that the Father gave Moses and the example that You set for us during Your earthly life. Help us to go forth and preach, if only through our example of You. We hope that when our time is ended, we will be with You in your heavenly kingdom. Amen

Loaves And Fishes
Jesus You have more than enough of everything to make us happy. We sometimes feel that Your words and lessons are not sufficient to meet the challenges we face in our lives. Lord, give us the faith to steadfastly draw from Your basket of endless mercy and knowledge as the Apostles fed the crowd with only five loaves and two fishes. Our world is in desperate need of You Lord. Feed us all and supply us with our daily bread. Amen

Above All Things
Dear Jesus, You come from above and You speak God's words. You are above all things on earth. Strengthen us to follow Your word rather than the earthly words and commands that we are overrun with. Your word lead to eternal happiness with You. That is not the case with earthly words. Those words seek to move us away from You forever. Please help us to face everyday with courage and serenity. Instead of anger and frustration, allow us to feel safe and secure in knowing that You are with us, despite the alienation that we feel with the culture's decay. Jesus, be our guide and strength. Amen.

Our Light
Jesus, Your Father sent You into the world to save us. You are the light that we are to follow if we wish to share eternity with You. You lead the way to salvation with Your words and deeds. The star led the Wise Men to you in the darkness of the night. Our world is very dark for lack of belief in You. Help us be the bright lights that will lead others to You. Jesus, You are our light and hope. Amen.

Son of Man
Jesus, You spoke of many things that only the Son of Man can fully comprehend. We listen to Your words and do the very best that we can to understand. You speak of the Holy Spirit and our thoughts are bounded by our earthly frame of reference. Our understanding of the Father is shaped by our limited capacity to comprehend the incomprehensible. Dear Lord, open our minds and hearts so that we can catch but a glimpse of the magnificent glory that is awaiting us as a reward for being true to Your teachings. Amen.

The Wind
Dear Lord,You described the Holy Spirit as the wind that came from a place we did not know and will also move to a place unknown. Affect us with the Holy Spirit. Let us surrender to the gentle breezes that come our way knowing that it is You. Guard us from spending too much time trying to figure out from where and when the winds will come. Help us to live our own lives, content with how the wind effects us and allowing the wind to affect others as it will. Come Holy Spirit. Amen.

Divine Mercy Sunday
Jesus, increase our faith in You. You invited Thomas to place his fingers in Your wounds to help his doubts. Lord, we must believe by virtue of our faith. Help us to look upon the Eucharist and see Your presence. As we travel our roads of living, shower us with Your divine mercy when we stumble. As You hold out Your hand to help us up, let us grab it quickly and firmly so that You can show that mercy and forgiveness that You want to give us. "For the sake of His sorrowful passion, have mercy upon us and the whole world." Amen.

Day 7 - Go Into The World
Lord, You commanded your disciples to go out into the world and preach the gospel to all creatures. You still had trust in them to preach Your word and represent You, even after refusing to believe that You were seen by others after Your resurrection from death. Jesus, please give us the strength, love and wisdom to preach Your gospel today, even though we do not deserve to have Your trust. Help us to believe and do good for Your sake in a world consumed with self-service and unbelief. Keep our flickering light shining in a dark time. Amen.

Day 6 - Another Appearance
Dear Jesus, You appeared again to the disciples for the third time. This time on the sea, causing their nets to overflow as You did early on in Your earthly mission. Lord how we long for You to reveal yourself to us in a way that will cause us to jump and run toward You as Peter jumped into the sea that day to reach You. Jesus we are living in a time in which so many people are actively working to erase You from everyday life. Keep us close to You and shield us from the calamities that are sure to result from the culture's rejection of You. Jesus, we love You and need You. Amen. |
April 16, 2009
Day 5 - Witnesses
Lord Jesus, Your appearance to the disciples created fear in them. You calmed them by showing them the wounds on your hands and feet. You ate with them as further proof of Your presence. How wonderful it must have been to be with You that day. Help us Lord to trust in Your presence and protection, even though we do not have Your wounds to look at as proof. Open our minds to the scriptures as you did for them that day. Make us a witness to your glory. Amen |

Day 4 - Road to Emmaus
Jesus, You walked on the road to Emmaus with two of Your disciples. Although You spoke to them the whole day in Your elegant and knowing way, they did not recognize You. It was not until You broke bread with them that they knew who You were. Lord, let us recognize and deepen our love for You the next time that bread is broken at Mass. Let us fully appreciate that You have left Yourself with us forever. Jesus, talk with us as we walk our roads everyday. Never leave our sides. Amen. |
April 14, 2009
Day 3 - Holding On
Dear Lord, in today's gospel You told Mary Magdalene at Your empty tomb not to hold on to You in that You had not yet gone to the Father. You told her to go and tell the disciples what she had seen. Lord it is so hard not to hold onto You today with so many worries and problems in the world and just ignore it all. Yet there are times that we struggle with even taking your hand when You stretch it out to us because we fail to see that it is You. Jesus, stay close to us so that we can always find You, and give us the strength and courage to go into the world and tell others about You, if only through our actions that are pleasing to You. Amen. |

Day 2 - Today's Chief Priests
Lord, You are risen from the dead for only a short time and the chief priests conspire with the soldiers to spread lies about You. Rather than believe, they continue to fear You and deny your glory. Even today, the chief priests of the culture, media and intelligencia seek to discredit Your divinity and the truth of Your resurection. Jesus, please keep us faithful to You and make us strong soldiers who defend You in the battle with lies and denials.Amen.

Day 1 - Easter Sunday
Jesus You have risen from the dead as you promised. You have given us the chance to be freed from our sins and forgiven if only we ask. Lord, amaze us with Your power and might as you did the guards that wonderous morning. Stun us all who are toiling in a world that is turning its eyes from You. Lord deepen our faith and reliance on You. Amen.

Holy Saturday
Dear Jesus, this must have been a terrible day for all who followed You and had trust in You two thousand years ago. Defeat, despair and sorrow must have ravaged their hearts. Lord, we face moments, days, months and even years of despair and aimless wandering whenever we lose sight of You or ignore Your ceaseless call to us. Jesus, help us to remember that You are with us every second of every day even though our eyes cannot always see You and our hearts cannot always feel You. Amen

Serve to Lead
Lord what an example of leadership You show to us at the Last Supper. You are all powerful and knowing. You have command of the entire universe, yet You wash the feet of Your disciples. Your message of the need to serve in order to lead falls upon many deaf ears Lord. Instill in us confidence in Your instruction and call to service in order to be Your followers. Strengthen our ability to be humble as we serve others who we would usually expect to serve us. You served us with Your death on the cross and now we have the chance to be forgiven. This is the greatest achievement of all time. Help us to comprehend Your gift to us. Amen. |

Surely It Is Not I...
Lord time after time You say to our hearts that we are in the midst of doing something that is contrary to Your will and design for us. Time and time again, in our own ways, we say to You, "Surely it is not I Lord." as we continue forward on our crooked path. You know us better than we know ourselves. You know our deepest secrets and our every motive. You are not fooled by our denials and facades of innocence. Help us to be truthful with ourselves because it also means being truthful with You. Amen

Judas and Peter
Lord, in today's Gospel You dined with Judas knowing that he was about to betray you in a willful, planned way. You also dined with Peter who would deny knowing you three times, even though he could never imagine that he would ever do so. Guard us and keep us safe Lord from all evil and wrongdoing. Whenever we are tempted to do what we know is wrong, give us strength to resist. Keep us alert to unforseen dangers and opportunities that are quickly thrust upon us and cause us to turn our backs on you for self serving reasons. Most importantly Jesus, always let us remember that your mercy is endless and that when we do fail, you are there to pick us up when we ask for forgiveness. Thank You for the peace and serenity that your forgiveness offers to us all. Amen. |

What's Important?
Mary chose to pay homage to You Lord, ahead of all of the tasks at hand. Despite other's feelings that she was wasting expensive oil and in the face of dangers posed by the chief priests who hated You, she used the oil to annoint Your feet. She used her hair to dry them. Lord help us to choose to cherish your presence while we are living, despite all distractions and dangers. Like Mary, our hope is the reward of everlasting life with You. Amen. |

Palm Sunday
Lord, what a journey this week will be for You. You ride into Jerusalem today high upon an ass being praised, all the while knowing that shortly You will be high upon a cross. Help us to face each day cheerfully and lovingly without anxiety and worry. Help us to face turmoil and pain as it comes our way by relying on You to strengthen us. Lord, thank you for the journey you will make this week. Amen.

I Absolve You
Lord You know everything. All of our sins are known to You, even before we commit them. Like a loving father who knows his children better than they know themselves, You wait for us to approach You to ask for forgiveness. Thank You for allowing a simple act of humility, our act of asking forgiveness, to be the price we pay to be forgiven. Thank You for the price You paid, death on the cross. Amen.

The Eucharist's Dawn
Jesus, we are only a week away from the commemoration of Your last meal with the Apostles. At that Passover meal, you will hold bread in your hands and raise it up, just as the Father raises the sun up from behind the earth everyday at dawn. From that moment forward, the words "This is My Body" said by Your holy priests will begin the new dawning of The Son every hour of everyday in every country of the world. What a wonderful gift. Let us see today's dawn of the sun and wait in anxious anticipation of the New Dawn of the Son. Amen.

Baptism Wish
Lord Jesus, during this Lenten time there are many people preparing to enter the Catholic Church. Some will receive the sacrament of Baptism as part of that rite. Please Lord, move all parents, regardless of their faith, who have decided not to have their children baptized to surrender their children's souls to You through Baptism. Comfort the hearts of grandparents who yearn for their grandchildren's Baptism. You can do all things Lord. Amen

Our Fiery Pit
In today's Mass reading, King Nebuchadnezzar said:"Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you will not serve my god, or worship the golden statue that I set up?" Lord how true this is today. At every turn there is a King Nebuchadnezzar offering golden statues for us to worship. Lord, help us to refuse the temptations that are placed before us. Be our strength in tolerating the ridicule and scorn that will indeed come our way when we resist. Let us have the courage to face our trials as they faced the fiery pit when they resisted the order to worship. Amen |
